SERVICES FOR MRS. PETER T. BLACK

Funeral services were held in Delta on Monday afternoon in the first ward chapel for Mrs. Isabella Black, the wife of Peter T. Black of Delta under the direction of Bishop E. Eugene Gardner. Interment was in the Deseret cemetery.

The speakers were Samuel Western of Deseret, who had known Mrs. Black since she was a child. Pres Jos. T. Finlinson from Leamington, Clark Allred T Clark Callister from Fillmore and Bishop Gardner. Tribute was paid to the qualities of this wife and mother whose death is such a loss to her family and the community. There were selections from the choir and vocal solos by George Q. Wilchen of Delta and Miss Neva Cropper of Deseret.

Mrs. Black had been seriously ill for the past two months and had suffered a stroke. Little hope was held for her recovery and she passed away at the family home on Friday morning at 3 a. m.

She was born in Murray, Dec 7, 1873, the daughter of Joshua and Isabella Bennett. Soon after the Bennett family moved to Deseret among the first pioneers and there Mrs. Black was raised. She was married in 1893 to Peter T. Black in the Manti Temple. Their married life has been spent in Deseret and Delta where they have been living since about 1920.

Mrs. Black is survived by her husband and six sons; Averno T. of Deseret, Nels Harold, Golden, Lucian and Legrand of Delta and two daughters, Mrs. W. C. Larsin of Mammoth and Lora Beth of Delta. There are also five brothers and two sisters and eighteen grandchildren. Her sons served as pall bearers.

Until her recent illness, Mrs. Black had always enjoyed good health and has been very active in behalf of the welfare of the community. She has been an ardent worker in the L. D. S. church in different capacities and has also been active in the civic and social life of the town. Her nature was one of sweetness and also force of character and her friends were many and devoted. Their sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
