MRS. ELIZABETH SCHOENERT DIES IN SAN ANTONIO
Funeral rites were conducted at the Roy Akers Funeral Home in San Antonio Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock for Mrs. Elizabeth Schoenert who died in that city last Monday following a long illness. The remains were brought to Bandera for interment in the Bandera cemetery at 12:00 a.m. with graveside services being conducted by Cameron McKinnon, minister for the Bandera Church of Christ.
Mrs. Schoenert was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Reitzer, who lived in the East Verde Creek community, and she was reared in that community, but for the past fifty-five years she had lived in San Antonio. At the time of her death Mrs. Schoenert was 74 years old.
Surviving her are two sons, Gerald U. and Victor G. Schoenert; and two daughters, Mrs. Estelle Payne and Mrs. Eileen Mayer, all of San Antonio; one brother, John Reitzer of San Antonio; one half-brother, Henry Steutz of Baytown; one sister, Mrs. Lydia Dreves of Austin, and nine grandchildren.
Mrs. Schoenert was a sister to Miss Annie Reitzer, Mrs. Hugo Zumberg, and Will Reitzer, all now deceased, and former residents of Bandera County. She often visited Bandera, and was known and loved by many of our old time citizens.
Among those who attended the funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Schoenert here Wednesday were Lt. Col. and Mrs. L. T. Payne, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mayer and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Schoenert, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Schoenert and daughter, Johnny Reitzer, Mrs. Lois Scheffield, Mrs. Lorene Wagner, Lester Reitzer of San Antonio and others.
