Mrs. Anna Henroid Yields to Illness

Beloved Altoona Lady Passes at the Age of 81 Years

Mrs. Annie E. Henroid passed away Saturday morning at 7:30 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Cranor, following a six-week illness.

Annie Elizabeth Maxwell was born near Calhoun, Mo., on November 25, 1868, and was 82 years, two months and nine days of age at the time of her death.

She was united in marriage to Albert E. Henroid on June 24, 1906. She was a member of the Royal Neighbor louge for 50 years; also a member of the Grange Lodge of Buffville.

Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Iva Cranor, of rural Altoona; two grandchildren, Clifford Cranor, of Altoona, and Mrs. Dorothy DeBolt, Minneola; three great-granddaughters, Karen, Kathryn Jo and Teressa Ann DeBolt, Minneola; five brothers, Bert Maxwell, Tulsa, Okla., C.H. Maxwell, Neodesha; two sisters, Mrs. Tillie Shoop, Buffalo, and Mrs. Maggie Shoop, Fredonia.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m., from the Altoona Christian church, with the Rev. F. W. Sprague in charge.

Interment will take place in the Altoona cemetery.

Casket bearers were Clarence Shoop, Ed Lewellen, Homer Maxwell, Richard Maxwell, James Robert Kern and Marion Maxwell.

Singers were Mrs. Reed Streets and Jacquelyn Snyder, who were accompanied by Helen Cranor. The songs were “Rock of Ages” and “Beyond the Sunset.”

The William Fawcett funeral home of Neodesha was in charge of arrangements.

Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the rites were: Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Maxwell, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Maxwell, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Porter, and Homer Maxwell, of Fredonia; Mrs. Maggie Shoop, W.T. Swinney, Mrs. Tillie Shoop, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cox and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lewellen, of Buffalo; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Shoop of Ellinwood, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Shoop, of Russell; J. B. Maxwell, Lewis Maxwell and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Maxwell and family, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Maxwell and Lois and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jewett, of Cherryvale; Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Maxwell and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Etter, of Independence; Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Maxwell and Dora and Gus Edwards of Neodesha; Richard Maxwell, Mrs. Malcolm Thompson, Mrs. Harry Knox, of Wichita; Mr. and Mrs. Al Younger of Clearwater; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Maxwell of Tulsa, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Kern of Chanute; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Maxwell and family of Chanute, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lewellen of Benedict.

Mrs. Henroid was a friend that the Altoona community long had cherished. She was of a quiet, unassuming nature, a true Christian, always imparting faith and devotion to her family and wide circle of friends. Her life was marked with sympathetic and understanding attention to her acquaintances and a shining example of integrity and rectitude. The community deeply mourns her passing and extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
