James J. Richardson � Pueblo Chieftain � February 4, 1917 � First C. F. & I. Blacksmith Dies at Age of 87 Years � James J. Richardson, age 87 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. P. Brown, 1405 E. 12th St., last evening. Mr. Richardson came to Pueblo from Starkville, Colo., about 12 years ago, having resided in Colo. about 30 years. He was the first blacksmith employed by the C. F. & I. at the Colo. iron works before its name was changed to C. F. & I. One of the experiences of Mr. Richardson's coming to Colo. in 1857 was paying the stage driver $100 for fare and board and walking all the way from Kansas City, Mo. He was a member of the St. Paul M. E. Church of this city. He leaves 3 sons and 3 daughters, Daniel, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; George of Pocatello, Idaho; and James of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. C. P. Brown of the family residence, Mrs. M. J. Blevins of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. George Newkirk of Salt Lake City and a number of grandchildren. The funeral will be held this morning at 10 o'clock from the United Undertaking Co.'s Chapel. Rev. O. K. Maynard will officiate. The body will then be taken to Canon City for interment, accompanied by the children. Pueblo Chieftain - February 5, 1917 - The funeral of James J. Richardson was held yesterday morning at ten o'clock from the United Undertaking Company parlors. Rev. O. K. Maynard conducted the services. H. Gardner accompanied by Mrs. Gardner sang "Face to Face," and "Abide With Me." The body was then forwarded to Canon City accompanied by the children.
