Rex Blackstone, the son of Samuel Howard and Mildred Ida (Shaffer) Blackstone, was born on September 29, 1934 near Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on February 25, 2009 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 26 days.

Rex attended rural Nuckolls County Schools and was a graduate of Superior High School with the class of 1952. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 and was stationed in Germany. After being released from duty he moved to Colorado where he completed an apprenticeship in cabinetmaking and became a journeyman cabinet maker. He was united in marriage to Doris Hansen on November 16, 1957 at Englewood, Colorado and to this union was born two daughters, Sherri and Joni. Rex was a carpenter for many years and returned to farming near the Superior area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Doris on April 17, 2002 and one grandson Jason Poole.

Survivors include his daughters, Sherri Poole and husband Craig of Superior; and Joni Fish and husband Richard of Englewood, Colorado; five grandchildren, Ryan Poole, Austin Poole, Emily Fish, Kathryn Fish and Elizabeth Fish; two brothers, Don and wife Linda of Webber, KS and Leo and wife Jeanine of Superior; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at 3:00 PM from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating. Music was "Go Rest High On That Mountain" and "On Eagle's Wings", with Stephanie Thayer as soloist and Carlita Erickson as organist.

Pallbearers were Craig Poole, Richard Fish, Daren Blackstone, Barry Blackstone, Jamie Blackstone and Lavern Schroer.

Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
