John's father died 6 mo before he was born. His mother Elizabeth Brickey Bradley took in washing to support the family.
His brother George age 2 while crossing a footlog fell into the stream and drowned.

Found in Tn census 1860 Sara Brandon, John's first wife:
Endemon Brandon 33, Sara 34, Carter 16, Malvina 15, Thomas 14,Newton 10, Adeline 8, Nancy 84.

Endemon died between 1860 -1865.

John was a close friend in the army with one of Sara's sons. John was wounded in the hip (no records found) and Sara took care of the wound.

After Endemon died and John discharged from the army Oct. 1865, John married Sara Brandon Feb. 22, 1866 and was living in Green Co. Tn 1870, no records 1880-1890. Was told after the war John & Sara's family moved to Walden Ridge, Tn. near Dayton. Later moved to Catoosa Co. Ga. then to Walker Co. Ga. in the Wallaceville community (now 'Up our Way' drive). One of Sara's daughters John helped raise.

John was introduced to Mary Ellen Lane by his nephew,John, Mark's son and they were married in Catoosa Co. Ga. June 1, 1902.

They lived in the Wallaceville community and raised their family, what is now known 'Up our way'lane.
