Obituary: (family papers - no citation) At the residence of her grand-daughter Mrs. Warren Upham, in this city Dec. 11th 1891, Mrs. Catherine Kain.
Catherine Traphagen was born n Pennsylvania January 26, 1806, and was united in wedlock to Morris Kain in York State February 21st, 1825 and emigratd with her husband to Wisconsin in 1837 where they resided for about nine years. Then moving back to New York State where they remained but a short time when they again moved to Wisconsin and from there to Illinois where they remained until the death of her husband which died in 1863 after which she moved with her children to Dresden township, this county, where she resided till three years ago when she moved with her son to this place. Mrs. Kain was the mother of seven children all of whom are dead except N.B. of this place with whom she spent the declining years of her life. The funeral was held at the M.E. church Sunday, Rev. L. S. Cooley preaching the funeral sermon.
