Born July 22, 1936, in New Haven, Conn., to Attilio and Caroline Antonetti, he graduated from Notre Dame High School in West Haven in 1954.

Mr. Antonetti was ordained a brother in the Holy Cross order, a Roman Catholic teaching order, from 1954-1970. During that time, he taught at various high schools along the east coast.

In 1960, he graduated from the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Ind. with a Bachelor of Arts in history.

He continued his education, receiving a master's degree in music from Vandercook College of Music, in Chicago, in 1967.

For 30 years, Mr. Antonetti oversaw Prince George's County elections, from January 1970 to August 2000. Then, from August 2000 to May 2004, he worked as Howard's election director.

He announced his plans to turn Howard's voting system into a paperless one after the 2000 presidential election. The county used touch-screen voting machines for the first time during the primary elections March 2, 2004. A few weeks later, Mr. Antonetti retired from his position.
