Son of Hardy and Cynthia (Pitts) Dean. Husband of Alice Ophelia Denty Dean, who had been the wife of his brother Simon, prior to Simon's suicide. Father of Thomas Autry Dean, Mary Alice (Dean) Peterman, Oscar David Dean, Henry Denty Dean, Cynthia Ellen (Dean)Thigpen, William H. Dean (Jr) and Aaron Otis DeanWilliam H. was the son of Hardy
and Cynthia Ellen (Pitts) Dean.

William H. was one of four Confederate soldiers among his siblings: Aaron and Joseph were both killed in Franklin, Tennessee during the strife against Union forces (1864).

William and Thomas J. were both captured on November 30th of the same year, but were released a short time later, upon promising not to participate in any additional fighting against Union troops.

Alice had previously been married to William's brother Simon who passed away in 1881. They had one child, William.

William H. and Alice had the following children: Thomas, Mary A., Oscar, Henry, Cynthia, William H. and Aaron O.

William H. and Alice relocated to Hancock County, Mississippy by 1900. William H. died after the 1910 Census, but before the 1920 Census.
