Death: Mable Edna Billings Sharp
Born Oct. 6, 1899 in Imbler, Oregon to Leonard and Mary Westenskow Billings. Married George Lee Sharp on Aug. 10, 1926 in Farmington, UT. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept. 23, 1953.Edna graduated from High School in Imbler, Oregon. At the beginning of World War I in 1918, she left Oregon to enter Dr. Groves LDS Hospital, Salt Lake City to train as a nurse. She graduated in 1922 and loved doing mostly bedside nursing with specialized and loving care. She performed with perfection and thus encouraged and expected perfection in the health care profession; a good organizer, was always willing to render help, counsel, advice and assistance with patience.

She served her Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in various capacities all her life, in music, Relief Society, Mutual Improvement Assoc; served on the Salt Lake Stake Primary board and was a visiting teacher. She was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

In recent years and though physically failing, she was instrumental in bringing greater happiness and joy to other care center patients through conversations, singing and rendering loving care and concern.

The family is appreciative of the tender care provided by employees and staff of the Life Care Center.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Emil Ottesen (Mildred); by several loving and caring nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Sharp; an only son, George Boyd; three sisters, Mary Leora Mickelson, Ruth Perry (Ross), Afton Billings; two brothers, Kenneth Pierce Billings; Leonard Boyd Billings.

Funeral services will be held Friday April 4, 1997, 2 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple where friends may call from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment: Murray City Cemetery, 5490 So. Vine St. (about 700 East.) Funeral Directors: Larkin Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Primary Childrens Hospital would be gratefully accepted.
