Homer Jennings Best, 96, of Espyville, formerly of Knox, died early Wednesday morning, March 24, 2004, in Meadville Medical Center. Born December 8, 1907, in Salem Township, he was the son of Charles and Sarah Jane Whitmer Best. Mr. Best retired from Knox Glass Containers and then worked for Beaver Township. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Espyville. Mr. Best enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was married to Sarah Elizabeth Eisenhuth, who died September 22, 1988. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Best was preceded in death by a son, Homer "Jack" Best, a grandson, Jade Lee; two brothers, Roland Best and Harry Best; and two sisters, Ruth Sherry and Nettie Wetzel. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Matthew Roberts, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church of Espyville, officiating. Interment will be in Cedarview Memorial Park, Strattanville.
