PAST AMHERST SCHOOL BOARD LEADER DIES
AMHERST - George W. Walker Sr., 54, of 574 Church St., died suddenly in his home at 11 p.m. yesterday.
Born Feb. 22, 1902, in Amherst, Mr. Walker had been an area resident all his life. He was an electrician and worked for the last 19 years at the National Tube Co. in Lorain.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Amherst Eagles 1442, and, for the past eight years, the Amherst Auxiliary Police Force.
He was the immediate past president of the Amherst Board of Education, and attended St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church.
Wife, Daughters Survive
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Kurth of Amherst and Sandra at home; two sons, George E. Jr., of Amherst and Robert J. at home; three grandchildren; two brothers, Harry and Ray of Lake Worth, Fla.; and three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Lehman of Amherst, Mrs. Margaret Stiwald of Birmingham, and Mrs. Alice Wragg of Elyria.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday from the Emmerich Funeral Home. The Rev. J.A. Wenner will officiate. Burial will follow in the Crownhill Cemetery.
