Mrs. Clara Jane Burford, 79, Urbana, died in Cole Hospital, Champaign on Tuesday morning February 20, 1962. She had been a patient there since September 6 when she and her husband, the late Cary Clive Burford (1882- ?), well-known Illinois Historical writer, were injured in an elevator fall in the same hospital. They had gone there to visit Mrs. Burford's sister.

Funeral services will be held at Weaver Memorial Home, Urbana with graveside rites in Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City.

She was born Clara Jane Grizzell October 23, 1882 in Kansas. She was married to C. C. Burford July 27, 1927 at Farmer City. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Staatz, a patient at Cole Hospital and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Urbana and was very active in civic organizations in her early life.
