Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Born, pioneer resident of Fox valley who passed away Thursday of last week at Prairie City, were held from the Driskill chapel in John Day Saturday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Mrs. Josie Bach, pastor of the John Day Methodist church officiating. Interment was at the Fox valley cemetery.
Nellie Williams was born in Portland, Oregon, March 20, 1877. She came to Fox valley in her early childhood. In 1897 she was united in marriage to Charles Born at Fox, Oregon.
Her husband preceded her in death in February, 1944. Surviving Mrs. Born are three daughters, Mrs. Alta Lofton, Olex, Oregon; Mrs. Blanche Hungate, Fox; and Mrs. Inez Adams, Mt. Vernon; three sons, Willis Born, Susanville, California; Carl Born, Prairie City; and Chester Born, Fox; also 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and one brother, Walter Williams of Pendleton.
She was a devoted and loving mother, neighbor, and friend. She was a member of the Methodist church and the Royal Neighbors of America lodge.
