Death of an Aged Woman, Mrs. Susan Dellet Blessed with Health until a Year Ago She Rears a Large Family - Mrs. Susan Dellet, a well known and highly respected old lady of this city, died between five and six o'clock on Friday evening at her home at Prince and Lemon Streets. On April 17, 1892, she had an attack, which was a stroke or something similar; and it left her rather weak, although she rallied sufficiently she had another attack and after that sank rapidly. She became unconscious on Wednesday and at the end peacefully slept away. Before the attack of a year ago, Mrs. Dellet had never been sick for a day in her life. Her health was something remarkable; and she possessed all of her faculties up to that time, being able to see and hear as well as much younger people. Mrs. Dellet was born in Lancaster, October 31, 1807, and was, therefore, in the 86th year of her age. Her father was Peter Huber, who lived to a great age; and she was born in the house now occupied by Bernard Huber as a butchering establishment, on North Queen Street. In 1826, she was married to Adam Dellet, who was well known as a contractor, and in his time, was a Democratic politician of note. He died in Pittsburgh on September 12, 1855 of cholera. He was taken with the dread disease while working on a large contract in that city. Mrs. Dellet was the mother of 13 children. Two died in infancy and the third, Mrs. Susan Kieffer, wife of Henry Kieffer, of York, died eight years ago. Those living are as follows: George, the oldest being 65 years of age, who lives on West James Street; Mrs. Wilhelmina Dorwart, wife of Martin Dorwart, who has a dray line at the Reading freight station; Peter, an engineer in Philadelphia; Mary, wife of James Stone, a prominent flour merchant of Philadelphia; Amanda, wife of Delos Everett, assistant chief engineer of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, living in Cleveland, Ohio; Sophia, wife of Andrew Dorwart, of this city; Adam, alderman of the Ninth Ward; Susan, wife of James McEnnis, of Louisville, Ky.; Joseph, cigar box manufacturer, of Lancaster; and Emma, widow of the late Charles Buckius, who lives with her mother. Mrs. Dellet leaves fifty-one grandchildren and forty-five great grandchildren. These, with her own children, make her living descendants number one hundred and six. Mrs. Dellet comes from a family whose descendants tend to live until very old. Her brother, Henry Huber, lives at Dillerville and is almost 90 years of age. Bernard, another brother, who is a retired butcher, is 82; and Jacob, of Conestoga Street, is 67. Benjamin died several years ago at the age of 76. Mrs. Charlotte Milleysack, an aunt of the deceased, lives at Chestnut and Cherry Street, at the age of 94, but now is in poor health. Mrs. Dellet lived in the house in which she passed away for over fifty years. She was very fond of her children, and besides raising a large family of her own, brought up several of her grandchildren. She was a remarkable old lady in many ways and was beloved by all that knew her, on account of her many excellent qualities. The funeral will take place on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with internment in Lancaster cemetery.
