Inscription
This Monument erected to the
memory of Mrs Mary Clap
(relict of the late Rev'd President Clap)
who died 23d Sep'r 1769 In the 66th
year of her Age, bears testimony that
neither an agreable person, good sense,
delicacy of manner, a virtuous dis-
charge of the duties of the indearing
relations of Wife, Parent, Friend, fer-
vent piety towards God, nor extensive
charity to man, can secure from the
arrests of Death; but the same stone
that tells this truth declares man Im-
mortal. Happy O reader! if by following the faith and patience of her who's
remains ly here, you build on that
precious corner stone laid in Zion,
which proclaims the resurection of
the Body, and the soul's reunion with
it: for if you so do you shall, after your
body is thus laid in the dust, be raised,
by the power of him who is the resur-
ection and the life to a blessed Immor-
tality.
