Sarah Jane Slack, a daughter of John and Mary Slack, was bonr at Zanesville, Ohio, November 18, 1848, and departed this life Oct. 31, 1932, at the age of 83 years, 11 months, and 13 days. Her last illness lasted but a week. She was a patient suffer all during her illness but loving care could not revive the departing strength. She was the last member of a family of nine. On December 25, 1866 she was united in marriage to George E Taylor . To this union was born three children, Mary L, Nellie O, and Annie V. The family moved to Iowa in 1873, and settled near Deep River. At an early age she joined the Methodist faith, to which she always clung.Two daughters, Mary L Doty and Annie V Doty have preceded her in death. After the death of her daughter Mary L Doty, she entered the home of her son in law, George Doty and made a home for him and his two children, from which home she never left. In a similar manner she cared for another grandchild, Nora Pinkerman. She leaves to mourn her death: one daughter, Mrs Nellie Neal, seven grandchildren, Frank Neal, Ida Van Dee, Pearl Nelson, Ray Neal, Sarah Martin, Verna Martin and Maud Olin, besides forty one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Interment was in the White Oak Cemetery.
