STONE, N.O. (1882-1953) Retired Railroad Employee Dies; Rites Held Sunday
N.O. Stone, retired employee of the N.C. & St. L. Railway, died at Faulkner Springs hospital Saturday morning at 6:30 o'clock, following an illness of three months. He was 71. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the parlors of High Funeral Home. John W. High officiated and burial was in Smith's Chapel cemetery, near Sparta. Rites at the grave were in charge of the Sparta Masonic Lodge. A native of Bedford county, Mr. Stone was born February 24, 1882. He was a son of Samuel S. Stone and Sara Jane Sons Stone and he was married to Miss Maggie E. DeRossett in 1905. She survives. Mr. Stone was an employee of the railway for fifty years and at the time of his retirement in 1946 was supervisor of tracks of the Tullahoma branch. He made his home here. Mr. Stone was a member of the Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, J. M. and F. L. Stone, McMinnville, and J. C. Stone, Anniston, Ala.; two daughters, Mrs. J.C. Perry, Nashville, and Mrs. Davis Robertson, Viola. Arrangements were by High Funeral Home.
