Beverly Diane Ross(1987 - 2005) SUMMERVILLE - Retired Navy Senior Chief Machinist Mate Alonzo H. "Al" Smith Jr., 70, died Friday at his residence. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Summerville Baptist Church. Entombment, directed by Dyal Funeral Home, will be in Dorchester Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Mr. Smith was born in Crossville, Tenn., a son of Alonzo H. Smith and Nellie Agnes Andrews Smith. He was a graduate of Florida schools. He worked for Aramco Oil Co. in Saudi Arabia as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of Summerville Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Doris Holland Smith; four sons, Michael Smith, Steven Smith and Bryan Smith, and Bruce Smith , Elaine,sisters, Mary., Roberta Penley of Eustis, Fla., and Margaret.; and 12
grandchildren.
