MORGAN: Nicholas John Brown Morgan was an appointed preacher for Winchester (1833-35), Warrenton (1835-37), Loudoun (1837-38), and Winchester Station (Market Street, 1857-58). Born Nov. 23, 1811, in Bath Co., Va., he was admitted to Baltimore MEC on trial in 1829, ordained a Deacon in full connection in 1831, and ordained an Elder in 1833. He preached under MEC appointment 43 years (1829-72) and died Apr. 6, 1872, in Millersville, Md., while serving First (Annapolis). His other appointments were Fincastle, Pendleton, Liberty, Jefferson, East Baltimore Station, Harpers Ferry, PE of Rockingham Dist, Foundry-Asbury (Washington), PE of Baltimore Dist, PE of North Baltimore Dist, Fayette St (Baltimore), Baltimore City Station, Georgetown, PE of Baltimore Dist, PE of Washington Dist, and Baltimore City Station. Son of Gerard and Rosana Brown Morgan, he is buried with his wife, Mary Elizabeth Phelps Morgan (1814-62), at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Baltimore.
