FINAL RITES FOR AGED LIVINGSTON WOMAN ARE HELD
Mrs. Elizabeth Rhinehart, 92, Passes Away; Was Active In Civil War
LIVINGSTON, Nov. 23, Funeral services were held today for Mrs. Elizabeth Rhinehart, 92, for many years a resident of this district.
Mrs. Rhinehart, known to many in the community as "Grandma Rhinehart," died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Carson.
Suffered Stroke
She had been failing for several months and suffered a stroke of paralysis last Monday evening followed by another on Wednesday morning.
She was born in Hagerstown, Maryland, July 15, 1835, and when still a small child moved to Illinois with her family.
Civil War Worker
She was a very active worker among the soldiers during the Civil War. She was the first president of the first W. C. T. U. chapter organized in the state of Nebraska by Frances E. Willard, the founder of the organization, and has been active in the organization ever since. The Livingston chapter made her a life member.
Leaving Nebraska the family moved to Kansas and then to Denver, Colorado, where in 1899 Mr. Rhinehart died.
Was Church Worker
In 1969 Mrs. Rhinehart came to California and has since made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Roy Carson at Livingston. She has been a devoted church worker all of her life and a member of the Methodist church for many years.
Many Survive
Surviving are the following sons and daughters: T. J. Rhinehart of Puyallup, Wash., E. M. Rhinehart of Eureka, Mrs. M. J. Goodrich of Seattle, Wash., Miss Una Rhinehart of Oakland, Mrs. G. O. Viegler of Pacific Grove, Mrs. E. C. Wasser of San Francisco and Mrs. Roy Carson of Livingston.
