Jacob Seifried, son of Sebastian (Bastian/Boston) Seifried and Barbara Hostetter, was born 14 March 1782 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania as calculated from age at death. (The diary of his grandson, Wiliam Seifried, provides vital information about Jacob and his family). He married Barbara Hair in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania 29 April 1806.

Jacob and family lived in Westmoreland County only a few years before migrating to Wayne Township, Wayne County, Ohio where Jacob received a land patent for 160 acres from the US Government in 1813. After the death of his wife, Barbara, he moved to Wabash County, Indiana with his son, John, and died there 17 January 1864, age 81 years 10 months and 3 days.
