Clemmer Goal Coleman, 90, of Athens, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at NHC Health Care of Athens.

A native of Turtletown, and a longtime resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Marion Atlas and Lillie Picklesimer Coleman. He was preceded in death by one son, Harlan Dean "Gude" Coleman; and one brother, Ed Coleman.

Survivors include six daughters and four sons-in-law, Joyce and Larry Robinson of Englewood, Linda Sue Branam of Riceville, Bernice and Richard Axley of Athens, Darlene Miller of Etowah, and Darlene and David Ownby and Ethel and Jimmy Harris, all of Athens; five sons and two daughters-in-law, Harold and Ester Coleman of Athens, James Edward Coleman of Hixson, Eugene "Gene" Coleman of Englewood, Gary and Michelle Hipps of Athens, and Jeff Hipps of Cleveland; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Marion Atlas Coleman Jr. of Athens; one sister, Elsie Pittman of Cleveland; a dear companion, Fannie Ledford and family of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home. Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Coleman, Gary Hipps, and Lynn, Jerry and Jonothan Swafford and Stan McConkey.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
