Funeral rites for Jacob E. Cranston, 76, of Cascade, resident of Montana for 55 years, who died here, will be held Friday afternoon at 2 at the W. H. George Co. chapel. Burial will be in Highland cemetery. Cranston had been ill the last 30 days.
Cranston was born in Wheelersburg, Ohio, Feb. 28, 1870, and came to Montana at the age of 21, homesteading 11 miles east of Cascade, where he had made his home since. Soon after his arrival in Montana, he was employed 11 years at the smelter. He was a member of the Methodist church at Cascade.
Surviving are his widow, the former Anna Bauer, whom he married in Chicago, Feb. 19, 1912; a brother, W. H. Cranston of Cascade, and five nephews and one niece.
