ASABA J. STECKEL was born Sept. 1, 1855, and received a common school education. He was a shoemaker at Cementon for twelve years, after which he was an engineer at a cement plant for fourteen years. In 1901 he began farming in Whitehall on a tract of fifteen acres. He is a member of the Whitehall Beneficial Society and of the Egypt Reformed congregation, of which he was some years an elder and four years a trustee. He is a Republican in politics. He married, June 2, 1879, Louisa, daughter of Reuben and Salome (Peter) Sensinger. They have no children.
