Dalton Gazette, Dalton, Wayne Co OH, Thursday 06 October 1904 - Death of a Pioneer. - WILLIAM WILSON, residing a mile and one-half north-west of Dalton, died of heart disease early Sunday morning, after a lingering illness. Deceased had been a life resident of Sugarcreek Township, having been born and raised on the farm on which he died. His age was 74 years, 8 months and 8 days. He was united in marriage to LUCRETIA FIFE, at Dungannon, Columbiana County, Oct. 13, 1864. To this union three children were born. One son, EMERSON S. WILSON, survives. Mr. Wilson was a member of Co. E., 169th O.V.I. during the Civil War, and at the time of his death a member of Dalton Post, G.A.R., which organization had charge of the funeral, the pall bearers being members of the order, selected by him prior to his death. Mr. Wilson was a member of Dalton Presbyterian Church and had lived a consistent Christian life. The funeral was held Tuesday, from the Presbyterian church, Rev. L. Twinem of Orrville preaching the sermon.
