Mary Elizabeth (Dolph) Cheek

Mary Elizabeth (Dolph) Cheek daughter of Nelson and Margaret (Fulk) Cheek was born near Johnstown Ohio, July 18, 1861 and passed away at her home in Johnstown, Feb. 19, 1932 aged, 70 years, 7 months and 1 day.
She was the oldest of a family of five children, all of whom with the parents having preceded her to the great beyond.
On Oct. 6, 1881 she was married to Noah Cheek and to this union were born three children- Ernest Cheek of Dewey Oklahoma, Grace who died in infancy and Vera Simmons of the home.
She attended the Johnstown Public Schools but at an early age, due to the illness of her mother was compelled to assume the care of the household.
When quite young she united with the M.E. Church and has been a faithful member, doing all she could to further the cause of her church.
For more than 50 years she and her devoted husband have traveled this pathway of life together and through sunshine and shadows she always met all trials bravely and with a cheerful smile. Truly hers was a life of service, spent gladly caring for others and after a few weeks of illness she quietly and peacefully entered into rest.
Beside her faithful husband, son and daughter she leaves to mourn her departure 10 grandchildren, 1 great grand child and many relatives and friends. Mrs. Noah Cheek was buried in the Green Hill Cemetery Feb.21, 1931.

Weep not that her toils are over,
Weep not that her race is run,
God grant that we may rest as calmly
When our work, like hers, is done.
'Til then we yield with gladness,
Our mother to Him to keep,
And rejoice in the sweet assurance,
"He giveth His loved one sleep."
