Former Resident Dies In Nevada

Relatives in Star Valley learned of the recent death of Frank Ellis, 63, former resident of Etna and merchant of Alpine who died after a short illness at Ruth, Nevada.
Frank Ellis was born at Menan, Idaho, Sept 12, 1891, a son of Jerry and Emma Wolfley Ellis. His father died when Frank was eight years old. The family, consisting of his mother and one sister and two brothers, later moved to Blackfoot, Idaho where he attended school and being older than his brothers and sisters, it fell to his lot to help raise the family. He later herded sheep for Morg Williams at McCoy Creek; thus he came to Star Valley where he met and married Alice Clark of Etna.
Ellis followed the trade of profession of a steeple jack for some time. he and his son Wayne, painted many towers and flag poles in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Nevada.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and three sons all of Ogden, Utah; two brothers, Henry Ellis of Ely Nevada, Harold Ellis of Phoenix Arizona; A sister, Gladys of Salt Lake City, Utah and his aged mother of Arimo, Idaho.
Funeral services were held at Etna Dec. 39 at 2 p.m. under the direction of the Schwab Mortuary; with Gail Burton, member of the bishopric, conducting. Opening prayer was by Wilford Clark. Processional and recessional music was played by Ruth Clark. The first son was sung by Ruth Clark. First speaker was Wardell Clinger, followed by a song by the Singing Mothers. Second speaker was Lorin Roberts. A vocal duet was sung by Walter Brower and Alta Sanderson. Remarks by Gail Burton preceded another song by the Singing Mothers. Closing prayer was by John Ashment.
Interment was in the Etna cemetery near his daughter Shirley, who preceded him in death. The grave was dedicated by Leslie Izatt.
