Frederic J. Bagley, 95, passed away peacefully, Dec. 12, 2006, at his home in Hampden. He was born Aug. 21, 1911, in Troy, at his parent's farm, where he lived for the next 91 years. He was the son of Fred H. and Ethel (Pierce) Bagley. He graduated from Unity High School in 1929. In 1942, he married Grace Lenentine.

For many years, Frederic and Grace ran the family farm in Troy and reared four children. He also worked as a carpenter and served as a substitute mail carrier. Later, he worked in the Unity Post Office. Frederic was very active in local community affairs. He served on the Troy Board of Selectmen for nine years, being first selectman for four years. Frederic was part of the Troy Volunteer Fire Department for most of his life and served as chief for several years. He was a 70 year member and past master of Star in the West Masonic Lodge No. 85 and a member of Josiah H. Drummond No. 91 Order of the Eastern Star, both of Unity. He also served as master and held many other offices in the Seven Star Grange and was a lifetime member of the Troy Union Church.

Frederic is survived by his wife of 64 years, Grace; a daughter, Judith Grace and her husband, Jeffrey Mabee, of Belfast; three sons, Stan and his wife, Terry Burke, of Bangor, Rick and his wife, Karen, of Hampden, and Keith of Portland; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Hilton of Litchfield; a brother, Wendell of Hudson, Fla.; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Myrick and two brothers, Lawrence and Kenton.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Troy Union Church with a gathering after at the Troy Grange Hall. Interment will be in Rogers Cemetery, Troy.
