James E. Almoney East Berlin Milling Retiree

YORK - James E. Almoney, 88, of York, died at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Pauline R. (Werner) Almoney.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion United Church of Christ, 1054 Ridgewood Road. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Workinger-Semmel Funeral Home and Crematorium, 849 E. Market St., York, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Almoney was born Dec. 9, 1913, in York. He was the son of the late R. Wilbur and Mamie (Ehrhart) Almoney.

He was a retired animal feed salesman at East Berlin Milling; prior to that, he was an animal feed salesman at Owings Bros. of York; following retirement, he was a custodian at Central York High School for 10 years. He was a member of Mount Zion United Church of Christ; a life member of Commonwealth Fire Company in Pleasureville; and a 1933 graduate of William Penn Senior High School.

Mr. Almoney is survived by two sons, Craig E. Almoney of Mechanicsburg and Byron L. Almoney of Mount Wolf; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; three brothers, William Almoney and Harry Almoney, both of Hallam, and Jack Almoney of Red Lion; and three sisters, Flo Kreeger and Rose Smith, both of Red Lion, and Margie Crumbling of Wrightsville.

Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. James M. Walters.

Mr. Almoney retired from East Berlin Milling, where he was an animal-feed salesman. He previously worked at Owings Bros. of York, also as an animal-feed salesman. After retirement, he worked as a custodian at Central High School for 10 years.

He was a member of Mount Zion United Church of Christ.

He was a life member of Commonwealth Fire Co., Pleasureville.

He was a 1933 graduate of William Penn Senior High School.

Born in York Dec. 9, 1913, he was a son of the late R. Wilbur and Mamie Ehrhart Almoney. He was the husband of the late Pauline R. Werner Almoney.

He leaves two sons, Craig E. Almoney of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, and Byron L. Almoney of Mount Wolf; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; three sisters, Flo Kreeger and Rose Smith, both of Red Lion, and Margie Crumbling of Wrightsville; and three brothers, William Almoney and Harry Almoney, both of Hallam, and Jack Almoney of Red Lion.

There is no viewing. Visitation is 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion United Church of Christ, 1054 Ridgewood Road. After cremation at White Rose Crematorium, a memorial service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with his pastor, the Rev. James M. Walters, officiating.

Burial is in Mount Zion Cemetery.

He was a graduate of William Penn High School; a member of Mount Zion United Church of Christ; and a life member of Commonwealth Fire Company, Pleasureville.

He was the widower of Pauline R. Werner Almoney. Surviving are two sons, Craig E. of Mechanicsburg and Byron L. of Mount Wolf; three sisters, Flo Kreeger and Rose Smith, both of Red Lion, and Margie Crumbling of Wrightsville; three brothers, William and Harry, both of Hellam, and Jack of Red Lion; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
