George Heber Shelley, 65, 388 N. 4th W., Provo, died this morning at Utah Valley Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 26, 1899, in Charleston, Wasatch County, a son of Samuel Levi and Marian Burnside Shelley.

He married Orba Nella Mower on May 22, 1918, in the Manti LDS Temple.

He spent his childhood in Mountainville, Sanpete County.

He received his education there and also attended mechanics school in Kansas City in 1926.

Following his marriage they lived in Boise and Richfield, Idaho and Sanpete County, in 1926 he settled in Clear Creek, Utah.

Mr. Shelley was employed there as a fireman engineer by the Utah Fuel Co.

In September of 1948 they moved to Provo where he was custodian for the Provo Third Ward until his retirement last year.

Mr. Shelley was a member of the LDS Church, holding the office of High Priest.

He had served as a Sunday School counselor and ward teaching supervisor, financial secretary of the High Priests missionary fund, and presiding elder of the Clear Creek LDS branch.

Surviving are his widow and seven children, Heber J. Shelley, Mrs. Reo (Ruby) Young and Donald "M" Shelley, all of Provo; Mrs. Keith (Wanda) Grames, Lindon; Samuel Shelley, Granger (West Valley); H. (Merlin) Shelley, Mapleton; Mrs. Aurell (Kathleen) Hatch, Orem; 25 grandchildren; four brothers, one sister, William Levi Shelley, David Alexander Shelley and Janie Coates, all of Mt. Pleasant; John Mason Shelley, Nampa, Ida.; and Jess Shelley, Salt Lake City.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel with Bishop Verl G. Dixon officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday prior to the services.

Interment will be in the East Lawn Memorial Hills.
