Phyllis was born Nov. 8, 1930 in Audubon, IA, the daughter of Raymond and Gertrude (Boyer) Booton. She grew up and received her education in Iowa. She married Richard Ross on May 29, 1947, and joined him on the family farm north of Audubon where they raised Polled Hereford cattle. The family moved to the Volo, IL area in 1967 where they lived on a Black Angus farm until 1974. At that time, the family moved to Wauconda. Phyllis was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Wauconda, where she was active for many years, most notably in the church choir.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard (also a resident of Wauconda Healthcare and Rehabilitation), three sons and daughters-in-law: Jon and Kathy of Berryville, VA; Ron and Wanda of Bloomington, IL; Tony and Lynn of Booneville, MS; and one daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Doug of Oakland, MD. Also surviving Phyllis are a sister, Marilyn Davis of Dunlap, Iowa, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Phyllis was preceded in death by both parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Arrangements are being made by the Cremation Society of Illinois. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. at Evangelical Free Church, 700 W.
