Funeral services for Sunny Redus Porter, 94, were held Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, in the Laguna Park Church of Christ with Pastor James Burns officiating. Burial was in Coon Creek-Smith Bend Cemetery.

Sunny Redus was born Oct. 15, 1914, the daughter of Isaac Newton and Bertheala Redus in Mt. Pleasant.

She had a wonderful gift of lighting up a room when she entered and will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Porter; her daughter, Wrayetta Grimsley; and granddaughter, Carol Grimsley.

Survivors include her son, Ronnie Porter and wife, Priscilla; seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
