An Aged and Respected Woman Passes Away.
Mrs. Nancy Montee, an old and highly respected lady of Sheridan township, Cherokee county, died at her home Dec. 24, of heart failure, after a few days' illness with pneumonia.
The funeral services were held at the residence, Rev. Dolson of McCune, officiating, after which interment was made in the McCune cemetery.
Deceased was born in the state of Kentucky, April 17, 1833. She came with her parents when quite young to McDonough county, Ill. Her maiden name was Nancy Brundage. She was united in marriage to Theodore C. Montee, Nov. 24th, 1853. Eleven children were born to them, five of whom are living: Mrs. Lizzie Crum, of Callahas, Col., Mr. Frank Montee of Cherokee, Mrs. Annie Swain, Delmar Montee and Geo. Montee of McCune.
Mrs. Montee resided in McDonough county, Illinois, until the fall of 1881 when the family came to Kansas, living in Cherokee for a short time and in the spring of 1883 moved to the farm six miles southwest of McCune which they had purchased and on which they have since resided.
In the death of Mrs. Montee her neighbors lose a friend that was ever ready to lend a helping hand in need, the husband a loving and devoted wife and her children a kind and indulgent mother.
