PAUL "GENE" BALLINGER, 78, Lima, died at 4 p.m. Oct. 3, 2001, at his residence.
He was born May 30, 1923, in Paulding County to the late Jesse J. and Stella V. Mumper Ballinger. On Oct. 9, 1942, he married Ruth E. Scott, who died Jan. 19, 1989.
Mr. Ballinger retired in 1986 as a truck driver for Duff Truck Lines after 39 years and had been a cab driver in Lima. He was a member of Central Church of Christ. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and played on its senior golf league. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the industrial league at 20th Century Lanes. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, Terry Ballinger of Lima; two brothers, Joe Ballinger and Gary Ballinger, both of Lima; two sisters, Betty Kimmel of Bluffton and Doris (Ted) Hilleary of Lima; and three grandchildren, Holly Dunson, Stephanie Moyer and Aaron Moyer.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Eugene Jr. and Jerry Ballinger; and a brother, Jesse Ballinger.
