DEATH COME TO ANNIE E BARNES

PASSED AWAY AT THREE O'CLOCK SUNDAY

Was a Native of Yolo county and Lived Here All Her Life, Funeral Today

Miss Annie Elizabeth Barnes died at the family residence on Main street this city, Sunday afternoon, at 2:50 o'clock. Death resulted from cancer after a long and painful illness. It was not unexpected, and her people were in a measure prepared for it, still it has brought the ever attending grief and pain to the family and her many friends in the community.

Deceased was the daughter of the late Abram and Mrs Anna Barnes. She was born in Yolo county about eight miles west of Woodland, on April 17, 1866, and was there for 37 years, 1 month and 7 days of age. She lived in Yolo county all her life and since the age of 17 lived in this city. She was educated in the schools of the county, and since coming to Woodland engaged in the business of dressmaking, at which she was very successful.

She was a conscientious member of the Catholic church, having united with it when a young girl. She took an active interest in the church work, and was considered a valuable member. She was a dutiful daughter and a kind sister. All who knew her admire and respected her for her noble character and her gentle and kind disposition.

Her mother and the following brothers and sisters survive her: Joe Barnes of Modesto, Zach B and Abram Barnes of Woodland Tom Barnes of Redwood City, Mrs Sadie Riley of San Francisco and Mrs Susie Powers of San Francisco.

The funeral will take place today. Services will be held in the Catholic church at 10 o'clock am.
