Warren married Amanda Pettengill, 28 Oct 1846, in Barre, VT. They had 8 children:

Warren was educated in Vermont schools; was a merchant in Barre, VT for six years; and was a representative to the Vermont legislature. Warren, with his family, located in Waukegan, Illinois in 1851, where he was in the tanning business with his brother-in-law under the name of Ellis & Pettingill for five years. Then Warren made the first abstract books in Lake County, Illinois, and became very involved in real estate. He was elected County Clerk in 1865, and held that office for 12 years. He was twice a member of the Waukegan, Illinois City Council. He was a much-respected man. He was a Mason and a Knight Templar.
