Richard Ashdown
Richard Ashdown, age 83 years, died at 4:30 o'clock this morning, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Arthur N. Miller, 615 North Aurora Street. He had been ill for three weeks. The attending physician said that there were no disease symptoms, but that Mr. Ashdown was worn out.
Mr. Ashdown came to this country from England when but 6 years of age. His boyhood days were spent here. He was employed as a blacksmith by the D.L. & W. Railroad Company for 47 years. He retired from business when the shops were removed to Scranton, Pa.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. S.A. Freeman of Buffalo and Mr. A.N. Miller of this city; one sister, Mrs. Lida Loomis of Ellis Hollow, and two brothers, James Ashdown of this city and Samuel Ashdown of Seneca Falls.
The funeral will be held from his late home Wednesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Wallace E. Brown of the First Methodist Episcopal Church will officiate. Interment will be in the City Cemetery.
