She was born on October 31, 1935 in Racine, daughter of the late Walter and Julia (nee Walter) Carney. Windy married Russell W. Erd on October 1, 1955 in Milwaukee, he preceded her in death on June 23, 1995. She moved to rural Montello in 1959 with her husband. Windy owned and operated Windywares Trophys and RusWin Ranch in Packwaukee for several years. She was very active in the Badger Horseshow Association and Marquette County 4-H. Windy had an extreme love for her flower garden, cats, her dog, shadow, horses, the Green Bay Packers' "Go Donald Driver" and especially her loving family and friends. She passed away on August 11, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison. Survivors include one son, Mark (Jean) Erd, Menomonee Falls; three daughters, Vicky Wruck, Florida Keys, Desiree (Paul) Voight, NC and Lisa (Robert) Thompson, Portage; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Daniel James Thompson, Steven, Nicholas, Brittany, Brian and Joey; three sisters, Kathy, Ruth "Penny" and Linda; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by an infant son and one sister, Patricia.
