The Greenville News (SC) - Thursday, May 16, 1996

TRAVELERS REST, SC - Samuel Thomas Capps, 77, of 389 Goodwin Bridge Road, died May 14, 1996, at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late John and Bessie Moody Capps.

He retired from Renfrew Bleachery and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Leota Cisson Capps of the home; two daughters, Sylvia Goldsmith and Pat Gilbert, both of Slater; two sons, David Capps of the home and James Capps of Marietta; three sisters, Eva Reynolds of Pickens, Loreen Russell of Salem and Ploma Smith of Walhalla; a brother, Edgar Capps of Pickens; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at The Howze Mortuary Chapel, Travelers Rest, with the Revs. Richard Burgess and E. Guy Longshore officiating and burial in Grand View Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Billy Ledford, Farrell Suddeth, Freddie Hall, Charles Southerlin, Lance Ledford and Virgil Barrett.

Visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

The family is at the home of Pat Gilbert, 14 Warehouse Drive, Slater.
