CENTRAL VALLEY, Utah--Evelyn Brown Lavender, 78, died October 27, 1999 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She fought a courageous battle against a terrible and little known disease, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

She was born February 7, 1921 in Koosharem, Utah to William Lee and Esther Margaret Anderson Brown.

She married Delmer E. "Doc" Wilson September 24, 1939 and they were blessed with one daughter. They later divorced.

She married Don E. Lavender on October 22, 1964 in Elko, Nevada. He preceded her in death February 11, 1988.

Evelyn was an active member of the LDS Church. She was a very talented lady, and she had many friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Douglas) Nelson; three stepchildren: Marilyn Hancock, Craig Lavender, and Bruce Lavender; two grandchildren: David (Patti) Wall and Traci (Daryl) Bateman; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Florence Savage, Georgia Anderson, Lavon (Kale) Cotten; one brother Carlyle (Claudette) Brown. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two sisters, Leona Brown, Betty Hollaway.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 6, 1999 at 1 p.m. in the Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West, Richfield, where friends may call Saturday morning from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.

The family extends their thanks and appreciation to all the great people at the Highland Care Center in Salt Lake City, who provided such good care for mother during the last months of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Society for Supranuclear Palsy, Woodholme Medical Building, Suite 515, 1838 Greene Tree Road, Baltimore, MD 21208. Mailing envelopes and information will be available at the Magleby Mortuary or from Judy Nelson the day of the service.
