Anna E Swanson was born on 13 March 1867 in Stockholm, Sweden, to farmer Henrich Swanson and his wife, Christina Sofia Teberg. The Swanson family immigrated to the United States in 1876, when Anna was nine years old. They lived on a farm in Irving, Kansas. Anna played the harp. She met Elmer Doggett in Kansas, Missouri, when she visited the hotel where her older sister worked as a chamber maid. He worked there a night clerk while attending medical school. Elmer and Anna were married in Irving, Kansas, 1885. They went to Perry, Oklahoma, shortly after the opening of the territory, where Elmer was a doctor for several years. Their daughter was Florence Doggett. Anna Swanson Doggett lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, until her death, 21 January 1944, aged 76, of cancer. She was buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Blue Rapids, Kansas.
