Martin W Hillhouse was the sixth of seven children born to Francis Marion Hillhouse and Mariposa Hammer. He volunteered May 27, 1918 and was sent to Great Lakes Training Station for a short time. He made several trips overseas on ships which conveyed troops back to their homeland.
