WILLIAM MARK HAMILTON
William Mark Hamilton, publisher, perhaps inherited his taste for journalism, because his father, H. V. Hamilton, was one of the pioneer newspaper men of Texas, publishing the Tyler Democrat (afterward the Democrat-Reporter) at Tyler before the civil war. W. M. Hamilton was born in Tyler September 5. 1866, and was reared in the atmosphere of a printing office, learning the trade and profession from front door to back door. He is today active in the publishing business, and has associated with him three sons, under the firm name of W. M. Hamilton & Sons, and the firm owns and prints two daily newspapers, the Palestine Daily Herald, afternoon, and The Palestine Press, morning edition. In addition to these they publish a Sunday morning paper, the Sunday Herald-Press, and a weekly, the Palestine Advocate. The Advocate is one of the oldest newspapers in Texas, having been established in 1849.

The sons associated with the father are Van A. Hamilton, Lamar Hamilton and Lester Hamilton, all trained newspaper men.
