Russell H. Simons, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001 at Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital.

Born May 29, 1916 in Mechanicsburg, the son of the late Peter and Ida Body Simons, he was a 1935 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School.

Retired in 1964 from the Pennsylvania State Police after 26 years of service, he was then employed as a security guard at Sylvania/Phillips ECG and retired again in 1981 after 15 years of service.

He was a member of Duncansville Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Frank Yeckley Bible class, the Eldo Squares, and a charter member and treasurer of FOP Lodge No. 57, Bedford. He liked to travel.

Mr. Simons is survived by his wife of 58 years, Amy I. Krider; a daughter, Kathleen Manuel of Brookville, Md.; two sons, David Simons of Auburn, Wash., and Duane Simons of Johnstown; a sister, Anna Henninger of Mechanicsburg; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Randall J. Marburger officiated at services. Burial was in Carson Valley Cemetery.
