John Travis Childers, 85, died October 29, 1973 in the Cherokee County Memorial Hospital. Native of Cherokee County; son of the late William M. and Alice Parris Childers. Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Lucy McCraw Childers of Gaffney; three sons, Lawrence E. Childers, John Q. Childers and Robert E. Childers, all of Gaffney; a brother, William Albert Childers of Kings Mountain; four sisters, Miss Lila Childers, Miss Maggie Childers, Mrs. Jamie Mabry and Mrs. Nesbitt Hammett, all of Gaffney; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services will be held October 30, 1973, at 3 P.M. at the Draytonville Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. Bobby Crocker, Jack Causey and Cline Boyders. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers: Max Shirley, Wilmon Wright, Lake Stroupe, B.G. Parris, Killian Barnhill, Ed Shumpert, Terry Holmes, Tommy Turner, Joe Parris and Mickey Harmon.
