Mrs. Margaret Virginia McFaddin, wife of James A. McFaddin, one of Victoria's wealthiest and most widely Known stockmen, aged 71 years, died very suddenly at her residence in this city last night at 9:30 o'clock as a result of neuralgia of the heart. Mrs McFaddin had been in ill health for some months, but her condition was not considered alarming. She was preparing to retire for the night when the end came. Mr. McFaddin, who was at his ranch, was apprised a few minutes before that she was doing nicely.

Mrs. McFaddin was a daughter of Richard and Harriet Coward, and was born in Calcasieu Parish, La., on September 18, 1840. The Coward family was one of the most prominent of Southern Louisiana, and several of its members were people of great distinction. About 1853, Mrs. McFaddin moved to Galveston County, Tex., with her parents, long since dead, and was married there on December 24, 1861, to Mr. McFaddin, who was then a leading ranchman of Refugio County. Mr. and Mrs. McFaddin lived for many years in Refugio County, and settled in Victoria about 1878 after disposing of their ranch interest's there, the McFaddin ranch being the largest in this county and the family numbered among the most distinguished citizens of Southern Texas. Mrs. McFaddin was noted for her charitable deeds, democratic manners and hlghmindedness, as is true of all the McFaddins, and no woman in Victoria was more popular. Her death was a great shock to the community, and has caused untold sorrow.

Besides her Husband, Mrs. McFaddin leaves three children: Hon. A. M. McFaddin, a former member of the legislator and one of the most influential
citizens o£ this section; Mrs. Emma McCan, wife of J. F. McCan, the well known artist, and Mrs. Margaret Crain, wife of William Henry Craln, an eminent young attorney and son of the late Congressman Crain, all residents of this city. Mrs. McFaddin is also survived by two sisters and one brother: Mrs. Richard West, of Blanconia, Refugio County, and Mrs. Emma Leisering and Richard Coward of this county.

The funeral will take placo from the family residence this evening at 5:30 o'clock. Rev. John B. Hudson, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, in
the absence of the Baptist minister, will officiate, and the interment will be made in the Evergreen Cemetery. J. L. Dupree, Jas. G. Rose, V. B. Proctor, J.D. Mitchell, M. E. Cline, Simon Levy, T. D. Wood and Theodore Buhler are to serve as honorary pall bearers, and J. T. Linenaugh, F. B. Lander, T. P. Traylor, George Harding, Jules C. Levy, J. H. Fleming, I. A. Heath and J. P. Welder as active.
