The fourth minister of the First Church of Salibury and sucessor of Rev. James Allen, he was a graduate of Harvard College in 1692 and came from Scituate to Salisbury, Mass. in 1695.

The son of of Colonel John & Sarah (Hawke) Cushing, he married Elizabeth (Cotton) Alling, widow of Rev. James Alling on March 14, 1698, in Salisbury, Essex Co., Mass. and was the father of Hon. Col. Caleb Cushing 1703 – 1797, Rev James Cushing 1705 – 1764 and Rev John Cushing 1709 – 1772.

Rev. Caleb Cushing died in the 56th year of his ministry.
