1910-2009

Irene Elizabeth Goodpaster, 98, St. Joseph, passed away Feb. 22, 2009, at the home of her brother in DeKalb, Mo.
She was born May 27, 1910, in Wallace, Mo., daughter of Jesse and Elizabeth Barbee.
Irene was a homemaker and member of the Wallace Ladies Sunshine Club and the Joyce Raye Patterson Senior Citizens Center.
She was an accomplished quilter and made many lap robes for "older people." She was a member of both the Wallace Christian Church and the Hyde Valley Presbyterian Church.
Irene was preceded in death by husband, Carroll Goodpaster; her parents; a brother, J.W. Barbee; and a sister, Opal Marie Barbee.
Surviving are brother, Eugene Barbee, DeKalb; great nephew, Jeff Dexter and wife Pam, DeKalb; several nieces.
Funeral service: 10 a.m. Thursday, Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hands of Hope Hospice.
