Samuel H. Ervin of 1041 Blanchard Road, a retired employee of the Columbus & Greenville Railroad, died at 12:45 PM yesterday, November 23. He had been ill for a week.
Mr. Ervin was born in Lowndes County, MS and had lived there most of his life before moving to Memphis Five years ago.
He was a member of Whitehaven Presbyterian Church and was a Shriner.
He leaves a son, Alfred Ervin of Lexington, MS; a daughter, Mrs. O.B. Dickens of the Blanchard address; two sisters, Mrs. T.C. Weathered of Columbus and Mrs. M.L. Rector of Birmingham, five grandchildren and a great grand-child.
